QuestionI HAVE A OLDER CAT SHE HAS A LOT OF SCABS ON HER
BACK AND MORE NEARER HER TAIL, THEY ARE HARD AND
WHEN YOU PEEL ONE OFF IT REMOVES THE HAIR, I HAVE
ANOTHER YOUNGER CAT AND A DOG THEY ARE FINE.
HER NECK AND BELLY ARE RELATIVELY FREE OF THESE
SCABS, SHE ITCHES A LOT AND BITES HERSELF DO YOU
HAVE AN IDEA ON WHAT THIS COULD BE?
AnswerHi Brenda! I would definitely have her checked by your veterinarian. They will take a very tiny skin sample and look at it under a microscope to detect any parasites. It sounds as though this may be a flea allergy or something of the sort. If she is itching and biting these areas, something is definitely causing discomfort, so checking her for fleas is a good idea.
