eye poop

I have a Great Pyreneese that has on occasion a bit of eye poop from his left eye. The area around his eye is pinkish red most of the time. I had him at the vets last week for shots and heart worm check,asked them but they were not sure what it might be. His eyes never get matted shut like with pink eye so I'm not sure what it might be. Your thoughts??

Hey Jeff,

Your Pyreneese may have develop a mild irritation in the eye.  Is there a tiny scratch on the cornea or a cinder hiding beneath the third eyelid? And one of the very first signs of systemic diseases such as Blastomycosis or cancer could be an innocent looking squint.

Signs of glaucoma can be very subtle at first and could include a dilated pupil that responds poorly or not at all to light, a cloudy cornea, a red appearance to the eye, and poor vision. Does your Pyreneese show any signs of these?
