English bulldog diarrhea

Question
We had our bulldog's tail removed about 6 months ago because it was ingrown.  Since then she has had constant diarrhea.  We have tried modified diets, lastly IAMS lamb and rice, and she is constantly on Imodium but the diarrhea will not stop.  She is becoming emaciated.  Our vet has run a number of tests, blood and other, and says there is nothing wrong, it is diet related.   Could her bowel have been damaged with the tail surgery, or is there some other course of treatment we can take?  If not, we fear we will have to have her put down as she is suffering from the weight loss, no appetite, and general malaise.  Any suggestions would be a blessing.  Thank you for your time and generosity in making this service available.

Answer
Hi Joyce-  Let's try a few things for this kid..

I wonder if she had a little nerve damage from the old tail putting pressure  on her nerves.

It would take some " re-training" for her sphincter muscle and bowels to regulate.  ( this takes time)

I have placed a link here for your review later on - It is a long store of a dog who had the same problems and ended up with some nerve damage.  Also, it is linked to a success story of a pup who had the tail removed before major damage was done.
A good read but very long:

By the way, Iams is a very poor food for her to be on.  In her condition she needs special foods with supplements.

Here is my plan for your girl.  Please give me a weekly up date on her stools and energy levels.

The first thing you need to do is get her onto a better food.
***Let's go with Innova EVO - You can get this at any pet store.
I would just do 100% Innova Evo - You can get the canned and the dry.
You will be feeding much less than the Iams because this is more condensed.  The poop will be smaller and eventually formed.
I normally tell people to do the change over slowly as to not give the belly a shock and cause loose stool.  In your case I think we can skip the slow transition and just go to the New food ASAP.
Remember, Innova EVO ---

Next thing you need to do is get some NuVET Plus into the kid's system...Go to the site and order some tonight.  This is a great Immune System Booster and Digestive aide.  Also, NuVET Plus helps the body to heal.  You need to use this order code because they can't sell to the public without a breeder/Kennel code :  81098
Look for a 180 count of the NuVET Plus - I want this kid to take 2 per day...( they are about .50 cents per wafer supplement).
After 6 weeks, you can go down to just 1 per day.  We need to get a Loading Dosage of the Supplement into the system.
Don't give up on this kid!  With some proper help, we may be able to fix this mess!!!
NuVET is a Human Grade - All Natural and Safe supplement for your pal. Thousands of bullies take NuVET wafers each day. We have over 35000 dogs and cats taking NuVET daily.

**tell them order code 81098...  Your order should get to you in 3-4 business days.. Order now.

Another very important thing we need to do is add some Bran to her diet.  Please go and get some Kellogg's All Brand Cereal.  Give her 1 tablespoon of this about 2 x per day... Mix it in a little of the wet Innova EVO food.  This will give her some bulk to the stools..
I would experiment with this...You may need to just do 1 teaspoon 2 x per day... You will see if it is bulking her up.. You want a more solid stool with the Bran.  This will all happen over some time.  It may take a few weeks to get the stools the way they should be... NORMAL.

Oh, the NuVET Plus wafers will help to increase her appetite, too!

Last, let's also get this kid onto some Acidophilus , 1 billion CFUs,
this is a probiotic for the intestines.  Please give 1 per day in some food.  ( hide it)  You can get this in any Walmart or Target Store/ Health and Beauty Sections/ Human grade...

Ok, that is a bunch to digest!  I will have more suggestions as time goes by.  Start with the above.
Let me know when you have everything?  We can e-mail weekly with updates...

~~~~ONE more thing:  is she doesn't feel like eating 2 x per day - just do 1 dog food feeding in the am and in the evening do some Canned Pure pumpkin... Yes, Pumpkin-
1/4 of a cup or a little more.  This will give her some calories and the much needed fiber her intestines needs.
I would like to see her eat 2 dog food meals per day of the Innova EVO.  The canned pumpkin is a last resort to get quality fiber into her.
BEST wishes,
