Very bloody stool

Question
Today my 9 year old wiener dog started having blood in her
stool. It started just a little now its just all blood and
looks kinda clotty. Does that make since? But its a lot of
blood and very often. Any suggestions?

Answer
If it's bright red blood then most likely something she is eating is irritating her bowel inflaming it and causing it to bleed. If it's darker in color then it is coming from higher up in the bowel and that is a bad sign.

If it is bright red, fast her for one day and see if it clears up. Make sure she has water etc. If she is not current on her vaccinations for parvo etc make sure she gets them as dogs of any age can get parvo and it is very dangerous for older dogs.

If she is still bleeding a lot tomorrow morning then you need to call the vet right away. Blood loss in a small dog is life-threatening.
I hope that she will be okay but please let me know how she does.
