My male cat, aged 9 years is incontinent after having his tail removed following an accident. Do you know of any treatment?

Unfortunately Jennifer this is a mechanical problem more than a chemical or hormone problem so there isn't a lot of treatment available.

You might want to ask your vet about some kind of drug that would treat a bladder incontinence in female cats but even that isn't very common.
What has happened is that the nerves to the urethral sphincter have been damaged either by the accident or the tail amputation.
The nerves for that entire area are in the spine right around the tail head. So unless the vet is very careful, and sometimes in spite of them being careful, they can be damaged or even cut.
Now you didn't mention if he is fecally incontinent of urinary incontinent but the rest of it is the same. Same nerves running from same area that go to different parts.
