Nose bleed

Question
Yesterday I had a mobile dog hair cutting co
do my Spanky. He's had the same groomer for
several years.[He doesn't like getting a hair
cut].The groomer says Spanky had a nose bleed
but that it wasn't bad.Could this been cause by
the groomer holding his nose or the muzzle was
to tight???.I told my wife that it looks like
the groomer cut his hair alittle to close and
that the groomer may have hurt him by accident
and not know it.We have never heard of a dog
having a nose bleed,what do you think.Spanky's
ok now and seems like his ol self somewhat, but
he's moping around alittle,he's usually mad at
me for a few days because I made him get a hair
cut.I usually told him about getting a hair cut
a few days in advance so he's prepared when the
groomer shows up and its not a surprize to him.
Believe me he the words hair cut,and he gets
an attitude over it.But,after its over he's ok
in a few days.Sorry to go on,just wanted to give
you his serinero in getting his hair cut.The nose bleed is what we are concerned with. Thanks!

Answer
Hi Norman!  That is so cute that Spanky knows the words "hair cut".  My shih tzu Charlie does too....and also hates going.  I gave up and learned how to groom him myself...which is a very grueling task!
How old is Spanky?  It could be possible that his nose was bumped when getting groomed.  If he is an older dog, it is also possible that there is a foreign body in his nose.  A lot of the time, we see older dogs having nose bleeds due to a cyst, nodule, tumor or abcess in their nasal canal.  It may be best to have your veterinarian check it out now, as if this is something serious, it can be removed early enough for a full recovery.
It also, too, may be from bumping his nose, and if he is a young dog, the chances of a foreign body being in his nasal canal would decrease sufficiently.
I hope this helps and give Spanky tons of kisses for me!
