How ca I get ahead?

Question
Hi, my name is Kim, and I am 14. I'm a freshman in high school, and starting to really think about becoming a veterinarian. I know the vet schools are very competitive, so I was wondering if you had any tips for getting ahead, anything that would look good on a resimay. I already pet-sit throughout my neighborhood, and I want to get a job at the local vet, but I have to wait until I am 16. Do you know of anything that I can do now, to help me get ahead, or even get a better understanding of if I would make a good vet. Also, I hope this isn't too personal, but how much does the average vet make ( I'm not doing it for the money, but I wold like to know). Thanks!

If you are too young to work at a vet's office, then why not try to volunteer at a humane society or local SPCA?  Those facilities often need volunteers and foster parents to care orphaned puppies and kittens.  Volunteering anywhere at the facility can be helpful to your veterinary career, so don't be too picky about where you start.

You can access the average income of a veterinarian on any career oriented website.

Good Luck -
