[Cat] Dry Nose

Question
My kitten, Simone, just turned two. Our entire family has had a mile virus (coughing, sore throat, headaches, sneezing, irratibility), and the doctor said the symptoms would last for a few week. I think we may have passed her the virus. She is small, so I think her immune system may be weaker than normal.
Her nose is dry, and she is lathargic. She has had a few other colds this year, that were accomanied with lethargy (she slept all day-- although that's pretty normal for cats), sneezing, and breathing that sounded as though she were "plugged up."
What should I do to make her more comforatable, and perhaps prevent her colds?

Answer
Hello!

Your cold will not pass on to your cat. They viruses are different strains and are usually host specific.

For Simone's colds: Is she an indoor cat, or going out? If she goes out, make sure you dont send her out when the weather is bad. Does she have all her vaccinations? If not, complete them. You may want to consider giving her a daily multivitamin if she gets colds often. It the problem persists, and she gets these colds a lot, I would advise that you get her tested for FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) and FeLV (feline leukemia virus).
