Trouble Eating (Cat)

Question
Hello,

My cat has had trouble with her teeth for the past 2 years.  She had a dental exam and cleaning and had several teeth removed 8 months ago.  Now, when she tries to eat, she turns her head sideways like she is having trouble chewing/swallowing.  She is able to crunch her food up into small pieces, but then spits it out (or it falls out of her mouth).  She doesn't care for canned food, but I have been feeding that to her since I know she isn't getting enough to eat.  She eats a little of that 2x a day.  I have taken her to the vet.  He has x-rayed her and done a bloodwork kit.  Nothing has shown up.  She is negative for Feline aids and everything shows up normal.  I am worried she will continue to lose weight and get sick.  Any idea what could be wrong?  Her teeth look fine and we can't see anything wrong with her throat.  She still acts happy & healthy, but she has continued to lose weight each visit to the vet (not a lot, a few ounces each time).  Thank you for taking the time to read this.  I look forward to hearing your answer.  Thanks.

Answer
Hello!

Since your cat tested fine on all the bloodwork and x-rays, it seems like the problem is not a medical condition. How many teeth were removed on the dental cleaning? Maybe she really is having trouble chewing, since you are saying that some food is falling out also.
Are you feeding her ONLY canned food now, or with dry? Because if you have switched to canned totally, since she isn't eating much of that, that may be the reason of the weight loss. Canned food is usually not as concentrated as dry. You may try to give her the dry food like this: soften her regular dry food with some low fat milk or just warm water, to make it easier to chew for her. That may help her. Please keep me informed on how she does.

Kind Regards
