Answer
OKay constipation is usually when the stool is very dry and they are unable to pass it.

How old is this cat? Older cats tend to have problems with that and can develop pockets in their colon from a condition called diverticulitis. This can be a really huge problem for cats. He could also have colitis, and these are the some of the symptoms of colitis in cats. They also can get irritable bowel syndrome and these symptoms also are the same. So you can see why it is important for a vet to look over a cat like this.

Most vets will put a cat like that on a high-fiber but stool softening food or capsules such as vetasyl which has psyllium in it. Canned pumpkin is another food that can help with this problem.

Your cat also should be on a high quality food, like Science Diet, instead of a junky store brand like Purina or Whiskers or fancy feast. These foods do nothing for a cat nutrition wise and can contribute to the problems he is having now.

Vomiting blood is pretty serious. This is something that calls for a visit to the vets. I understand that vets aren't free but we are responsible for our pets health because they rely on us for their care.

Anything less than that can be considered neglectful when your pet is sick.
You can try the food change or adding the pumpkin but this cat really needs to see a vet and soon.

You don't want to wait too long and then be sorry that you did if he has a serious illness.
