Question
Hi Debbie,

Do you know if it's safe to give my Brittany dogs benydral to calm them down on the 4th of July?

They weigh approximately 48 lbs.

Thanks,

Anne

Answer
Hi Anne, it is OK to give Benedryl.  You can give 25mg two times per day if you like.  If it is really bad you could give 50mg at once but it will probably make them sleepy. It probably will help a little bit.  There are other options.  Clomicalm and other natural herbal relaxation products are available and pet stores or a Vet.  There is also "Rescue Remedy" found at the health food store.  It is a liquid you put in the water.  It can be used for several days at a time.  The worst case scenario if "Acepromazine" from your Vet.  A tranquilizer used commonly for severe axiety issues.
