fleas on a puppy

How do you get rid of fleas on a 3 month old puppy? I was told that you can't do anything about it until they are 6 months old and I don't believe that answer. There must be something I can do. Thank you, Glenda

I would recommend getting ADVANTAGE made by Bayer (www.nomorefleas.com) from your veterinarian.  It is very safe and can be used on puppies as young as 8 weeks old.  It starts to work in a few hours and provides the best flea protection out there for a month.  In addition, the puppy should visit the vet for a health check, vaccinations and a stool sample anyway.  FYI...Fleas can transmit tapeworms.
