My cat just ate a redback

I am from australia and i just killed a redback spider (similar to the black widow) and a few minutes later my cat came and ate it... Is it possible for the cat to get poisoned from ingesting a poisonous spider?

Yes, it is very possible for your cat to get poisoned from ingesting a poisonous spider.  I would definitely call your veterinarian immediately and get him in for treatment.
I am unfamiliar with redback spiders and fortunately, where I live, poisonous spiders aren't an issue, so I am unsure of what treatment would be given to your cat.  
Please let me know how he does,
