Swelling after surgery

Question
Hello,

I have a nine year old boxer who just had stiches taken out of her leg.  It has been about a week since her stiches were removed. I noticed a little clear stitch sticking out from the bottom of the incision. I pulled it alittle bit and the little knot came out but it was still attached.  I actually could see it pulling the top part of the incision from underneath her skin.  I pulled the stitch out as much as I could and snipped it.  Now her leg is getting lumpy around the incision.  I don't know if it is getting infected inside from the remaining of that stitch.  It is not red, or leaking.  It is just alittle swollen and lumpy.
Sound familiar?  Could it be scar tissue?
Thanks for your time!

Answer
It sounds to me like they put in a continuous absorbable suture under the skin to close it.  By pulling it out, you have removed the part holding things together underneath the skin.  There may be an infection or just scar tissue.  Take the dog back to the vet that did the surgery and let them look at it.
