Cat Throwing Up

I have a female cat that is about 6 years old. She recently began throwing up 1-3 times a day for the past few days. The first time, we noticed that she had gotten into some red lettuce scraps on the counter, and the throw-up was a light pink hue. However, she is still throwing up 3 days later. There does not appear to be very many solids in the throw-up, and generally is a beige color, with very little odor. Also some other changes in her routine around the time she began throwing up was I bought a plastic pet water fountain, cleaned with super hot water before letting them use it. She did not appear to drink from it very often, as it is new and strange. I did pick that up and only let her drink from the glass bowls she is used to. Also, I would give her a small amount (maybe 1-2 tablespoons) of TikiCat wet cat food (basically shredded chicken) in the evenings a few days before she started throwing up, and ceased giving her this after she began throwing up. Also, a change in her environment was my mom and her 2 dogs were visiting, while the dogs mainly stayed outside in the yard, they were in the house a few times when it rained. However, my mom and her dogs have visited a few times a month for the past few months. She nibbles at her food that they have been on for 6+ months(EVO Turkey and Chicken dry food), and drinks water. She is still using the litter box to urinate 2x/day like she usually does, and has pooped in the litter box also on her normal schedule, there is no sign of diarrhea. Her demeanor is still lovey as it usually is, and she still plays with my other kitty.

I am not sure what could be causing the throw up, and am starting to get a bit concerned, even though she is still otherwise acting "normal". Any advice to help my little kitty stop throwing up would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Sara,
Thank you for all the information. It would be difficult to tell without examining why she is vomiting. Cats can vomit for a number of reasons, from a mild case of gastroenteritis, to pancreatitis, kidney failure or obstructive disease. I would take her to see your local vet.

Sorry I can't be of more help, this is definitely one of those things that can't be diagnosed over the internet and it would be negligent of me to even try.

If she has stopped vomiting and seems pretty happy otherwise (eating, playing, normally active with no diarrhoea), then I would feed her a bland diet of just cooked chicken breast pieces and white rice for a few days, just in case she is still feeling a little delicate.

There is an article here on the causes of vomiting, that may help. It's mainly about dogs, but asides from the fact that dogs are usually a bit silly about what they eat off the ground, similar principles apply.
