Queen seems sad

I recently allowed a friend to adopt two 12 week old kittens from Kitty's litter.  She is not eating and playing as much.  She still cares for the other three kittens but seems really sad.  Is this just a phase?  Is there anything I can do for her?

Usually when there are kittens remaining, a good mother will not mourn the loss of a couple.  The fact that she is not eating normally and not playing makes me think something else might be going on.  She should be checked out to assure she does not have a fever, and/or developing an infection of some kind.  If her urinary habits are normal, maybe she is just coming down with something.  Her immune system is compromised right now after going through a pregnancy, delivering a litter, and nursing them for 2 to 3 months.  It is worth having her checked out to make sure all is well physically.
