kittens breathe

Question
hello I just got a 7wk old kitten and I noticed her breathe is really bad.  I have another older cat and her breathe wasn't.  My kittens breathe smells like she just ate feces which I haven't noticed her to do.  Her gums are pink and she seems fine but her breathe is just awful.  What could cause this and is there anything I can do at her age?

Answer
There a few reasons she might have bad breath.
1. The new food she is eating isn't agreeing with her tummy.
2. She could be having some tiny teeth issues- any time teeth break through they can have smelly gums.
3. She has some bacterial issues with her gums.
4. The food she is eating is just not good for her period.

There aren't many other things that can go wrong with a young kitten like that- unless a worm burden can cause this smell too.She does need to be round wormed now and ever 10 days, as well as get her first shots so if her breath isn't better by then have the vet check her mouth.

I would get her off any store bought food she is on and get her on Science Diet Kitten growth and nothing else. That way she won't have the milk that is on Purina Kitten chow (garbage) because they are lactose intolerant once weaned, and any store food isn't going to give her the nutrition she needs to grow healthy and strong.

She will get a complete and balanced diet and not need any other food. You can get it in canned and dry. Leave an 1/8 cup down for her and then feed her some wet in the morning. (about a half a teaspoon at this age).

I hope you can find the problem and correct it. The vet will tell you what is going on if food isn't the issue.
Please let me know when you do find out what it is.
