need some advice on my labrador

Question
My dog (labrador) is 7 months old, and is having problems walking. I have heard of the term hip displacsia. At the age of 4 months we took an xray, the left leg had a slight slip with the ball and socket joint. However our vet told us that it is too early to detect displasia and had recommended we give him the hip and joint complex tablets and monitor him. We also gave him some booster shots. But this hind legs are still weak. We do take him for short walks and he is lean too and we have kept his weight under control. Can anyone suggest what we can do?

Answer
Sincere apologies for the delayed response.

It sounds as though you have started a good course of preventative care to limit the problems his will have as a result of his hip dysplasia.  Additionally there are a few oral supplements that may be of some help including Methyl-sulfonyl-methane(MSM), buffered aspirin, creatinine and  vitamin C.  These should all be available in your local health food store and pharmacy.

The trim weight, exercise and joint complex are major factors in helping to keep him as healthy as possible.  I wish you the best of luck and let me know if I can be of any further assistance and again apologies for the delay.
