Question
My dog, 95lb male lab, ate 1/2 bag (about 6-7 oz) of chocolate kisses yesterday.  Today, he is happy, but his eyes are bloodshot, should I be worried or just give him a few days to get over it?

Answer
Dogs who have ingested a toxic dose of chocolate usually begin showing signs in a few hours such as vomiting, diarrhea and hyperactivity.  The size of the dog and the quantity ingested along with the time that has passed sounds as though it was a dose not terribly worrisome.  Many mass marketed chocolates have a decent amount of filler to them so that the dose of pure cocoa is much less than the actual volume ingested.  

An examination by your veterinarian would still be advisable to make sure everything is all right.
