Question
If we put two dashunds together ...how long should they be together ,, what type of enviroment should they be in e.g.  in a kennel/cage    Basically I have a male dashund who has never been spayed and a female dashund in heat right now..... How do we make this happen ...lol ???

Answer
Dogs are in heat about 3 to 4 weeks about every 6 months. They are coming in for a week, in heat and ready to be bred for most of a week, and going out for a week.  If you know the day she began her heat cycle, try breeding her on the 9th, 11th, and 13th days.  This is only an average.  Some are receptive earlier and some later.  You might try keeping them together in a small room only on these days.  Keep them apart before, in between, and after these days.  You don't want him to wear himself out so he won't be productive.  If they will not breed naturally, your Vet will probably have an artificial insimination service.  Remember, puppies are a lot of work and quite expensive.  Good luck
