hello hillary ,
heres the thing , : ) , weve recently moved into our house its been about 3 months , and lately our dog has also been going into areas outside where other aminals dirty and rolling in the poop. seriously . i dont know why she is doing this , but its driving us a bit crazy. just last week my friend brought her dog over, and my son saw this dog rolling around on our rug.I only klnow this because the other day , a few days later as i let my dog back in the house from being out and , dirtying , she dirtied all over the rug that my son saw the other dog rolling around on. usually my dog (her name is Sara) does not do this , but now her scent i think is becoming more and more familiar on the rug- when she dirties and urinates. So i am not sure what the heck is going on ? hope this extra information helps and you have an idea of whats going on here . thank you ,
gina duarte

i think there is an underlying problem , my dog dirties in the house even after being out and even walked. she is almost 2 yr.young rottie.can u help me please??

Hi Gina!  How long has this been going on?  If she has always done this, this may be a behavioral problem.  If this has just started recently, there could be an underlying problem.  If she is urinating in the house, there could be a urinary tract infection or bladder infection present.  If she is defecating in the house, there could be a gastro-intestinal problem.
If she has always done this, you may want to look into training classes to figure out a way to get through to her.
If she has just recently begun this, I would definately recommend a veterinary visit to have her checked out for the problems listed above.
I hope this has been helpful and if you have any more questions please feel free to ask.  If you have any more information on any other symptoms she may have, I may be able to give you a more narrow possibility of what may be causing this.
Thanks!
Hilary

Answer
Hi Gina!  Okay, this does help a bit!  Being that you have moved recently, your dog is associating the rug with comfort, as her scent is there, and not really anywhere else yet that she is familiar enough with. Basically, she is marking her territory on the rug.  After hearing this, I would definately think that there is no underlying problems.
Constant reprimanding should eventually make her get the hint that doing her business on the rug is not going to be tolerated.  If this is a throw rug, taking the rug away for a bit of time may help as well.
I hope this was helpful!
