Question
I have two cats approx. 3.5 years old and who a supposedly brother and sister. THey have been spayed or neutered. The problem: Our female cat has been increasely urinating in different areas of the house i.e. Leather couches, carpeting ,concrete floor, etc. The problem is not only finding the area but then eliminating it. In all honesty their two boxes are not always clean and fresh. What can I do to first find the soiled areas and then more importantly completely clean and deodorize them. Thanks for your time and help. CJT.

Answer
You need to have THREE litter boxes and make sure to scoop them DAILY and keep them clean (use hot soapy water only to clean--chemicals can react with the ammonia in their urine).  You wouldn't want to go to the toilet if it wasn't flushed very often.   Make sure the litter boxes are in an easily accesible area that is quiet and safe.

I would also recommend taking her in to the vet for a check up to make sure that she doesn't have a urinary tract infection.

Black lights will help find urine soiled areas.  You should use an enzymatic cleaner such as Nature's Miracle to clean the areas and then place food dishes there to discourge repeat incidents or some type of citrus as cats do not particularly like citrus.

You can also use Cat Attract litter to help draw her back to the box and FELIWAY to help ease stress/anxiety associated behaviors.
