whats wrong with my husky?

Question
I have a 3 year old husky, his name is Magnum we got him about 4 months ago from a guy giving away his two huskies. He spent his life with the other husky that was a girl. Since my first husky Snoopy was lonely we decided to take the two huskies in but the girl husky didn't come til this month, we recently gave her away because Magnum kept attacking and hurting Snoopy since he is a lot bigger than Snoopy. Today I went out to play with Magnum and Snoopy, usually they both start wagging their tails and follow me as fast as they can and jump on me,what a typical excited dog would do. But today was different, Snoopy was the same but Magnum was acting depressed and I noticed that his black fur was fading a bit,I can't tell if it's just because he's dirty or possibly because he's turning pale? When I ran Snoopy ran with me but Magnum walked slowly, Snoopy ran to me all the way and Magnum stopped half way and just stood there. Then a few minutes later he just layed down on his side with droopy eyes. Is he sick? Is he just tired? Does he miss the girl husky? Does he miss his old owner? Is he about to die? I'm assuming so many things at once I don't even know what's going on because I haven't been spending time with my dogs cause I've been busy,I can't take him to a real vet because my dad is cheap and will just tell me he'll get better on his own,I want to know what's wrong with him...he's not starving or thirsty, his water bowl was still filled when I went out and when I offered him a treat he turned his head away, please help!

Answer
I don't know Vivian. There are many things that can be wrong. He could be injured from Snoopy biting him. He could be sick, you didn't say whether or not he has had shots. He might have heartworms and is sick from them since you didn't say whether or not he is on heartworm prevention.

He could miss his owner and his sister or what ever she was to him. If he was taken away from them and you have not been paying attention to him, he could very well be depressed.

He might not be doing well on the diet you have him on. Are these dogs neutered as well?  They both should be or you will have one huge fight on your hands one of these days.

I don't know how old you are since you mentioned your dad but you and Dad both must know that owning pets is a responsibility and that when they are sick they need to see a doctor just like you or your dad does. Not every dog gets well by themselves.

That kind of thinking went out of fashion in the 1960s. Pets are our companions and we need to assume the cost and care of them completely or not have them.

So call the vet if Magnum isn't feeling better by tomorrow and get him in for an exam. Hopefully he isn't sick with parvo or heartworms but you should have him tested for them both.

I hope he does get well soon. Please let me know what the vet says.
