dog aggression

I have an older adopted from shelter dog who becomes very snarly, aggressive at night possibly associated with jealousy over the male in the house who the dog prefers. It has become very troublesome with both us us owners being bit at times. This is a small terrier mix dog. I hate to give him up as he is 11 or 12 years old, but I don't know what to do, Thanks for any help!

if he is biting you the best thing to do is to have him put to sleep.  He probably thinks he is more dominent in the house than you and this should not be allowed.  contact a canine obediance trainer and ask for guidence otherwise you will have to have him put to sleep and adopt another dog.
