Question
I have a 1 year and 4 mon. old pug that's has had diarrhea since early monday morning (since 3.am) and it was regular diarrhea. Then, later in the afternoon, it became a little thicker but it also came out with some clear mucus.Today, her diarrhea is the same way, with mucus, but then she vomited some white stuff and a chunk of it.Sorry to be so grotesque but, what exactly is wrong with her?She only vomited once but she still has diarrhea. What should I do to help her get better? Thanks.

Answer
Hello Brianna:  It may be a virus in her belly.  How about we try a few things... If they don't help, you will need to see a VET.

First let's try some canned pumpkin - get the kind that is pure pumpkin... ) no added sugar)
Give her 1/4 a cup per day for 3-4 days.  ( adds fiber)

Next, give her some Wellness Formula canned dog food - Try to get the sweet potato and fish ( if you can find it).  Wellness formula is found at most pet stores.  ( look for a natural canned / holistic food) .... Use this canned food for about 3-4 days.  Then, return back to your regular food.

You can give immodium  (1/2 ( one half) a tablet ) if the stools remain very loose.

If she starts to vomit more, please call the Vet office ASAP.  You don't want your baby to dehydrate.
