Female kitten

I have a female kitten that is approx. 3 1/2 months old.  For the past two weeks she has been meowing constantly, sometimes more like howling and throwing herself down on the floor and rolling around. It sounds like the behaviour they display when they are in heat but she is to young, isnt she?  I am at my wits end with her!

Hi Kim!  Although, we more commonly see cats go into their first heat around 6 months of age, it is not impossible for them to go into heat at this age.  It truly sounds as though she is in heat right now.  I have definitely witnessed cats between 3-4 months go into their first heat.  Getting her spayed will eliminate the problem.  Most veterinarians in my area will not spay until 6 months of age.  Given the special circumstance that she has developed early, I'm sure that you would not have a problem finding a veterinarian spaying her at this age.
