cat euthanasia

Hi Dr.-
I have a neighbor who is on assisted housing with a cat that looks like it's 40. This cat is ready to go, is suffering greatly, and is immobile. She was ready to die naturally outside last week, but they brought her back inside and she just fell off the chair. There isn't a vet in our area that euthanizes pro-bono, and they've resorted to human medication to try and force the cat into a permanent sleep. Being a biology major myself, I don't believe that is the best option, and school tuition doesn't allow me to pay for it at an emergency clinic. Any suggestions or home remedies to end this poor cat's suffering?

You should be commended for helping this kitty.  Unfortunately, the owners will have to bite the bullet and pay to have this cat euthanized.  They can try to call a local Humane Society or SPCA and ask if those organizations would be willing to help pay for the euthanasia of this cat. Some humane meds will certainly end her life, and the death will most likely be a longsuffering one.
