My Cats Dandruff

Question
My name is Rahul, and I have a Maine coon for a cat. He has a very serious dandruff problem. Whenever we (my family) scratch his back, his dandruff just flakes off like crazy. He itches a lot, and frankly I don't understand why he has such a big dandruff problem. I know it's not a "lack of fats in his diet" problem. He is a little overweight and he eats well. We do not manually give him a bath as often as we do. That could be a problem, but as he grows, it becomes more and more difficult to give him a bath. So we are trying to avoid giving him more baths as much as possible. But if that is the solution to this problem, then we'll do whatever it takes. We thought that there maybe some supplement or special lotion that we can use to help the problem, but it is very difficult to find something when you don't exactly know what specific thing you're looking for. So if you could help in any way, we would deeply appreciate it. Thank you , and if you need more information, please contact me.

Answer
There are many reasons for dandruff in the cat.  If he is itchy, it could be an allergy.  If he is not getting the correct type of fats in his diet, it could be from that.  If he has ringworm, it could be from that.  YOu should take the cat to a vet for a proper diagnosis.  Then specific therapy can be given for a particular problem.
