Question
Hello, My 6 year old cat (MiMi) has been coughing recently yesterday and today. I've noticed that he was coughing out clear white mucus. He looks like he is having trouble coughing it out. My cat loves to go outdoors and killed a mouse 2 days ago and I was wondering if the mouse might have given my cat something to give him this cough. MiMi is now indoors sleeping a lot and tries hard to cough out the mucus when he wakes up. What can I do to help him feel better and make the cough and mucus go away? I do have other cats and dogs in the house too. Can they catch this?  Please let me know if you have any advice.

Answer
You should take your cat to the vet as coughing in cats is NOT normal and not very common.  This may be a respiratory infection or something more serious like asthma or heart disease.  There isn't really anything over the counter I can tell you to give your cat.
