Question
I need to know if the "human" pill form of meloxicam is acceptable to give to dogs.I have a 120lb Bernese Mountain Dog that is presently taking 60ml a day of the suspension prescribed by my vet. As meloxicam is covered under my health plan it would be far less expensive and managable for me....I would do this only if my dog could tolerate the pill.

Answer
The pill form should be safe for your dog to consume.  However, I would recommend checking with your health plan provider.  Though some will allow children's medications to be filled with plan benefits it is unlikely that they will allow those for pets to be filled as well.  Health plans do vary so I would recommend a call to them to be sure of the availability.

Hope this helps.  Have a lovely day.
