Question
MY three year old beagle just recently just had his tail docked/bobbed, and he seems to be in a lot of pain. He hasn't been sleeping and is constantly barking in pain. Is there anything over the counter I can use to help him sleep and stop the pain? My vet said to give him Benadryl, but that seems to make him more hyper. All I have in my house is Tylenol PM and Ibuprofen, are either one of these okay to give to my dog?

Answer
No, both of those are very toxic to dogs. Benedryl will make him sleepy, so the vet thinks, but some dogs and people get hyper with it.

The only safe thing to give him is buffered aspirin, and even that is not great for their stomachs.

But please don't give him ANY Tylenol or ibuprofen!!
