Bubble on kittens bottom

Question
Two weeks ago I adopted a kitten from the animal shelter.  He is now 9 weeks old.  About 1/4 of the pink spot on his butt looks like a blister or a bubble.  It has not always been this way, only in the last 4 days.  He will only eat canned food and will not use the litter pan.  He had fleas and tape worms which have been treated.  He had to be treated for tape worms twice because he threw up the first pill, although it still seemed to work.  His bubbly butt is very sensitive and I'm sure that he's uncomfortable when he poops.  Is this going to go away?  I am a college student and expensive vet visits are a last resort.  Please help Mackenzie.

Answer
Hi Erica! I am so sorry it took me so long to respond to your question!  I have AOL, and unfortunately have been experiencing some software problems that needed to be fixed....so I couldn't get online for 4 days!
As for your kitten...Intestinal parasites like tape worms, round worms, coccidia, ect. are all treated with a different type of dewormer.  He has been treated for tape worms, but has he been treated for round worm or other intestinal parasites?  The reason I ask is that when a puppy or kitten has an intestinal parasite, it makes defecation very difficult.  Because of the continual straining during defecation, it will cause the anus to prolapse.  This means that the colon literally begins to come out of the anus.  Surgical intervention will be needed, by placing the colon back into the anus and tacking it there. From what you have described, it sounds as though this is what is ailing your poor baby.  This would definitely need to be corrected promptly to eliminate any further damage.
A lot of veterinarians will work out a payment plan.  Make an appointment for a checkup to have your kitten examined to be sure that this is or is not the problem.  After your veterinarian diagnoses what the ailment is and the treatment to cure it, talk to him/her about cost. If the cost is something that is out of your price range, when you are there, they will usually come up with a payment plan for you to make the cost of treatment more comfortable.
I hope this helps and best of luck with your kitty!
