Female Feline Behavior

We have a 6 yr. old female that's been spayed and in good health. SHe's been the family's only pet for the most part. Since 2001, we've been "empty nester's". Even though our cat gets lots of attention from us, She doesnt get as much as a whole.She seems board at times (prowling and whinning). What can we do for her?

I would recommend getting FELIWAY to help reduce stress and anxiety.  ALso, make sure there are plenty of interactive toys for her to play with, a cat condo and a window perch would also give her something to do while you are gone.

Thank you for your quick response.I take it that another pet in our home is too late to try (Sasha's age and dominancy)? One question: is FELIWAY an anitdepressant?

Feliway is a pheromone spray (and available in diffusers too) that helps reduce stress, anxiety and urine marking.  I have 3 diffusers in my house for my cats and have many clients that use it faithfully.

You can try to get another cat for Sasha, but many older cats tend not to take to new cats in the house.  If you want another cat, I would try a neutered male cat that is mellow and not dominant.
