Hi
I have a 6 weeks old kitten, i brought her home last 3 days1 since the first day i saw a line of blood in her stool, it was less for the second time that she pooped1 but today morning i noticed a tiny line of blood again! she plays normal, eats normal but doesnt like to drink water so she drinks low fat milk. she eats kitten dry food, and chicken and turkey kitten food in can.
I wanna take her to the Vet but its already friday and vets are closed,
I am worried abt her

Answer
Fresh or frank blood in a kittens stool can be caused by a sudden change in food, a low quality food, and internal parasites. Six week old kittens need to be wormed at least 3 times and now is the time to do it.

Get her on a better quality of food, such as Science Diet Kitten Growth and that will eliminate the food caused issue. However, on Monday morning, get her in to the vets and have her tested for leukemia, vaccinated and wormed.

You will need to repeat the worming every ten days for two more times. Do NOT feed kittens milk as it will also cause gastric upsets and bloody stool. Cats are lactose intolerant once weaned from their moms.

She HAS to have water. Milk will not keep her alive aside from the above fact. She will drink water when she needs it, so leave it out for her at all times. A cat water fountain has shown to increase a cats water intake, so you might want to get her one of those.

Most vets are open Fridays and Saturdays.
