Question
i just got a 4 1/2 month old boston terrier to day at 8:30 am and he has not eaten or drank water at all i have put him in front of it all day and he does not want either of them what do i do?

Answer
Well he is probably a bit frightened and confused as to where he is all of a sudden.
You need to sit with him and gently talk to him and coax him to eat something. Hopefully, for now anyway, he is on the same food that he has been eating.

Drinking is more important so that he doesn't dehydrate. He can go a day without eating. You need to sit with him on the floor and rub some water on his gums or tilt his head back gently and pull out his little cheek and put some water in there.
Of you have a feeding syringe use that to give him some. If not then an eyedropper will work too. You can also rub some honey or karo syrup on his gums to get his blood sugars up and help him to feel better. Karo is best so get some if you don't have it. Gatorade will work too. He may have low blood sugar from the stress and from not eating. You can also boil up some rice and turkey burger and see if he will eat that. Mix them together and cool then give him about a 1/4 cup and see if he will go for that. Pour a little canned, low sodium chicken broth over his regular food too. Sometimes that will get them started on eating.

He will need a few days to get adjusted to his new home. Be gentle with him and in a day or so he will start eating. Hopefully he has been taken well care of up to this point and has been wormed and started on heartworm prevention.

If he won't drink after tomorrow on his own then you need to take him into the vets.
