QuestionI've got a an 8 month old female cockatiel named Foofer. She's very sweet and friendly, and a wonderful little companion. The problem is that she keeps laying eggs. They're unfertilized as she's a single bird. I consulted a few books which all suggested limiting her exposure to sunlight to only about 8 hours a day. However, that hasn't worked. I can't leave the eggs inside her cage as that makes her very aggressive and nippy. I bought her a cuttle bone since I know laying eggs will deplete her calcium.
So far, nothing I've tried has worked. Is there anything more I could be doing for her?
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me. :)
Take care,
Brandi and Foofer
AnswerHi Brandi!
I think you need to get on a Cockatiel chat room. I used to have a finch that layed eggs all the time, and after a while she just stopped.
I have no idea how to help in this situation. BUT consulting a cockatiel breeder or bird aviary pet shop could offer you more suggestions.
good luck!
