brown beard on bischon frise

My 3 year old bischon is very prone to hot spots-changed dogfood and added skin tabs to diet (dogfood Avroderm) - now has developed a brown beard below the mouth

Answer
The brown is a pigment in the saliva that stains the hair.  You can try wiping some vinegar on the hair daily for 2-3 weeks to bleach it, or some dogs respond to an antibiotic called tetracycline, which changes the character of the pigment.  Ask your vet anout the antibiotic treatment.
