Messy kitten

Question
Well, my male kitten(I believe he's a Ragdoll) is quite messy ! He buries his ENTIRE face in his food when he eats. It's gotten better over time, but he's still a mess everytime he eats.
F.Y.I.- He is 11 weeks old & has been weened for 6 weeks(I've had him since he was 7-10 days old)
He sits full on his butt when using the litter box, which makes a mess on his rear end.
Also, he throws up once a day everyday since he was weened. I feel like he just overeats & his little system can't take it, because he's perfectly fine otherwise.
My vet said he may be retarded. I'm not sure if his mother abandoned him or what. My boyfriend manages a Petco in L.I. & someone brought him in saying she found him on the corner. I have a hard time believing that though as he was fresh, clean, smelling good & had a bottle of milk with him, so I think that maybe the person who "found" him actually owned him but got sick of him & couldn't handle it anymore(he is high maintainance & cried ALL THE TIME when he was a new born & needed to be held 24 hrs. a day).
My questions are :
1) Why does he bury his face in his food ?
2) Why does he throw up once a day, everyday ?
3) Why does he sit full on his butt when he uses the litter box ?
4) Will all this stop eventually ?
5) Should I be worried ?
6) Is this normal hand raised , possobly retarded kitten behavior ?
7) Should I take him to the vet again ?(I took him at 5 weeks & they said to wait & see. That was 6 weeks ago!)
Can you help me with my questions ? It would be much appreciated !
Thank you !

Answer
1) Why does he bury his face in his food ?   Most likely because he is under-developed...my one kitten did the same thing for quite some time.  Or maybe he has poor eye-sight.

2) Why does he throw up once a day, everyday ?   This is definitely NOT normal and I would be very concerned as he could dehydrate quickly.  I would try to feed him a bland diet of meat baby food or boiled chicken and rice PLUS yogurt--no regular kitten food--for a few days to see if this reduces the vomiting.  I would also recommend Deworming and having a stool sample checked at the vet as well as testing him for Feline Leukemia and aids.

3) Why does he sit full on his butt when he uses the litter box ?   Many cats will squat very low to go to the bathroom.  And he may be too weak to hold himself up.

4) Will all this stop eventually ?  I can not guarantee that.

5) Should I be worried ?  I would be concerned.

6) Is this normal hand raised , possobly retarded kitten behavior ?  I don't know if I would say RETARDED...maybe under-developed or slow...the poor guy.  Since you don't have a history on his mother it is hard to say what happened.  Hand-raised kittens have a tendency to be more socially inadequate but should not be retarded per-se.

7) Should I take him to the vet again ?(I took him at 5 weeks & they said to wait & see. That was 6 weeks ago!)   Yes, he should go to the vet.  He needs Distemper vaccine and if not already done a Leukemia Test and you should have another stool sample checked.
