hoarseness of voice in cats

Question
i have a 4 year old female cat. she is always indoors and never mixes up with other cats. for the past two months she is having hoarseness of voice which developed suddenly.for the past one month she is coughing and sneezing occasionally. the episode is increasing but her behaviour is normal. she is eating, drinking normally without choking and sleeping as usual. she is also having discharge from the eyes but she usually has it during winters. i have taken her to many vets  but they only prescribed symptomatic drugs and its not helping. one vet said that it might be worms that has migrated into the lungs and caused choking. but i dont feel that is the reason since she does not have any fleas, is brushed daily and food is thoroughly washed and cooked before serving. i am very worried about my cat and dont know what to do. i have even tried home remedies like giving honey. please suggest me how to treat her. i am from india so please advice me treatment which is available here.and also the dosage of the drug. please do help me since i have tried every possible measure but in vain.

Answer
The most common worms that cats get from fleas are tapeworms which are intestinal, not in the lungs. She could conceivably have picked up heartworms from mosquitoes, which is a world wide disease. Coughing isn't as common a symptom in cats but is certainly possible. Because of their small size, it doesn't take many worms for a cat to show symptoms. She should be tested for heartworms using an occult test (for hidden ones).
Another possibility is that she has asthma. This is not uncommon in cats either and can manifest itself at certain times of the year more then others.
My other question is have you had her throat looked at? Some cats develop tumors in their tonsilar area and that can cause choking a coughing. The vet needs to look down their throat with a light to really see them.
Has she had any x-rays done? Her lungs should be x-rayed and evaluated also.
That is about all I can tell you. Since the cause is not known there is no drug treatment I could even suggest.
Honey will not do anything for her except make her mad at you for giving it to her!
I am sorry I cannot be of more help.
You might want to re-post this to one of the veterinarians on the site here also.
