Question
I've taken my 19 year old cat to the vet several times for this problem...and the vet keeps telling me that he's "fine". He walks around with his mouth hanging open...I swear he's sweating....he sleeps in the weirdest places...he's just not acting "normal"...and hasn't been for the past couple months! Any suggestions? I am going for a second opinion at another vet this week.

Answer
When his mouth is open is he panting? Cats only sweat through their tongues and pads of their feet like dogs. But if he is panting he could be having a serious lung problem. Cats do NOT open mouth breathe unless they are in dire straits. You are wise to get him to another vet. My 19 yr old cat was fine until he turned 19- then he did weird things too right before he went into kidney failure. So be prepared for not such good news.
