My Dog has sores.

Question
Hi Marie. I'm not sure if you can answer my question. My 10 year old pit mix Evie has developed some kind of skin sores on her lower back right above her tail. we are a low income family and I'm trying to find some way to treat her without having to take her to the vet. just a brief bit of her history may help you.  she was a very health dog until about for years ago when my mother in law moved back home (we live on a two house property she was gone for about 10 years) when she returned she put the two dogs upfront out side next to my dog. both of there dogs were not well cared for. shortly after this my dog became infested with fleas. about a two years later we found out that she had heart worms.which has been treated regularly since then. now about 2 months ago i noticed a somewhat large wound on her back. it was a hard lump that was red with no hair growing on it. it oozes clear fluid with small mounts of blood in it. the only way i can explain it is that it looked angrey.ive been keeping it clean and since then 3 more have appeared. about a week ago one of them broke the lump is no longer there but is now concaved and is still very hard. it still oozes clear fluid.and today when i was cleaning them i noticed what looked like clusters of off white things that are about the size of grains of sand but elongated instead of round.if it helps any i live in new jersey about a mile from the ocean. it doesn't seem to hurt her and she still eats normally. nothing has changed with her. she just has these sores. like i said i cant afford a vet but if i absolutely must I'm sure i might be able to find one who will take payments. i would be grateful to you for any information that could help my eviee girl. thank you so much.  grace

Answer
Hello Grace:  I understand about not having any x-tra $$$.
You can call around and ask if any VET will take payments from you.
Here are a few home remedies, that May Or MAY NOT help - worth a try:

Go and get some Yogurt, the active culture kind ( Activia Brand) -
Give this to her every day for 2 weeks... 3/4 of a cup per day.
After two weeks go down to 1/2 cup per day...
Do this until the spots are gone.

Next, give this kid some Vitamin E , get the 150 IU capsules and just give one per day - May sure she takes it in some cheese.

Last, Buy some hot spot treatment and put it on the Closed sores...
This will help to heal the areas.

For the OPEN areas, get some EMT gel and place this into the open area.  Make sure you clean the open area with hydrogen peroxide.
Put the EMT gel on every other day.  You don't need to care for this every day, just every other will be fine.
EMT gel is an invisible band aide

Good Luck
