Question
My dog Buddy (medium size, approx 50lbs) has been limping on his front right paw.  We have tried medicam and it does not seem to help.  My vet seems to think it is arthritis, but medicam should have worked if that was the case.  We have asked if perhaps he could have a thorn in his paw, but the vet thinks not.  Do you have any suggestions.  His paw is very sensitive. HELP!!!!

Answer
How old is Buddy? While it is possible to have arthritis in one foot it usually will affect more than that.

If this is sudden then I would suspect a foreign body also. You can try soaking his foot in warm water with Epsom salts for a few days and see if something forms a bubble on his foot or between his toes. Be sure to look underneath between the pads.

If nothing forms then a good x-ray should show any arthritis that is starting.
It might not even be his paw but his wrist or even his shoulder. These need to be examined also.

That is about all I can suggest Kim.
I hope you find the reason soon and he gets relief for it.
Please let me know what you find out.
