Question
My dog ran in front of a car this afternooon and has badly damaged his leg but thank goodness it is not broken after the vet did an xray. However the vet is concerned now, and is putting him to sleep to repair his leg where the skin and bone is showing ,that he cannot see his bladder and will investigate while he is under anaesthetic.   What does this purport to mean please??

Answer
His concern is that the dog's bladder was ruptured when he got hit. It is not uncommon for this to happen but if the vet catches it right away and stitches it up he should be fine. A ruptured bladder if left untreated it fatal.

You have a good vet because he looked carefully for that possibility.
