Itchy Pom

Dear Teleah,

I have a 2 year old female Pomeranian. Yesterday, on August 9th, she went to the vet to get a reinforcement shot for the rabies and today, she started to scratch her left and right side with her back paws. She is losing chunks of fur, her skin became a strong pink color and it's almost constantly. I also put a flea repellent on her neck (it's a small tube of liquid) this morning.
I've put a thin doggy shirt on her so she won't scratch her skin anymore.
Could these be reasons for her itch? Besides vet care, what can I do to make her more itch free and comfortable?

It sounds as if she is having an allergic reaction to something.  It's possible that it is a reaction to the rabies shot, the flea medicine, or something else entirely.

I hope that by now you have taken her back to the veterinarian for care.  If not, get her back.  This is usually too itchy for over the counter medicine or home care.
