my shin tzu has bumps/open sores

I notice that my dog started getting little bumps (they look almost like a pimple) It went from pimple to bumps and open sores. Could this be an allergy? and if so what can i give him over the counter? plese let me know as soon as possible.

It's pretty hard to say what these are when I don't even know where they are on the dog. It sounds very much like he could have impetigo which is a skin disease kids get at school sometimes.
Any kind of sores like this should be seen by a vet. While not an emergency they do need to be looked at.
I cannot recommend any over the counter medicine and you should have him seen.
