Question
Hi i have 4 cats....my 6 year old princess is showing signs of being sick and before i bring her to a vet i want some insight.
she is all black and she has been occassionaly when she's laying day i hear her like weezing allmost, she had it since she was a baby and i took her to the vet and when i did they said they didnt know what it was but the did detect that she was anemic. Here's her current signs
- never is active always sleeping
- her poop smeels horendis,so do all the others
- noticed last 6 months she's been losing weight
- she used to get along with other cats now all she does is cat fight with them
- just yesterday i noticed her constantly going into her box, so i watched her and she peed like a drop, and she did that a while but sometimes she peed normal
- she soiled the other day in the dining room and there was blood all in it
- all the cats soil is yellow, soft, sometmes slimy but one common it STINKS bad so i switched there food to something more natural and less ingredients like corn gluton, but hasent helped
- looked at her gums to see if there whiteish to see if her anemia is back but her gums are COMPLETELY black now there is no pink what so ever and her tounge is light pink

Any information will be appreciated on any clues to her problems...

Answer
Kristina- Oh boy - I think the 6 yrs old could have liver problems. Also, kidney, too... Sorry, almost sounds like diabetic... Have her checked for diabetes, liver, and kidney disorders.

You can place the other cats on some :
Salmon oil - ( one teaspoon per day ) per cat - Can be found at most pets stores...

Robitussin DM - for the cat that is having some wheezes... here is the normal dosage:

Consult with your veterinarian on how to treat minor coughs. They often recommend Robitussin-DM which as the effect of liquefying the mucus and suppressing the cough (contains dextromethorphan and guaifenesen). Dosage is 1/2 teaspoon per 10 pounds of body weight every 6 hours.
If only mucus is the problem then use Plain Robitussin (contains guaifenesen). Dosage is 1/2 teaspoon per 10 pounds every 4 hours.
