Hematoma on the ear of my Weimaraner

Question
My dog has a hematoma on his ear and it is getting larger each day. Will this go away on it's own without surgery?

Answer
Left untreated, aural hemoatomas often cause crinkling of the ear and deformity of the pinna.  In humans it is called a "cauliflower ear."  Aural hematomas often result from an ear infection that causes such pain and discomfort that the dog flops his ears to relieve the pain. You should have the ears treated and have the hematoma fixed.
