I dont know whats wrong with my dog.

Ok I have a dash hound, and his gentials are swollen.Hes eating ok but everytime he drinks water he seems to cough alot.Eairler today he coughed up a little water.He also sleeps with me at night and hell get under the covers and go to sleep well last night every 5-10mins  he was coughing and getting in and out of the covers. I would like to know what could possibly be wrong with him? And should I call or take him to the vet?

Not knowing the age of your dog it is hard to say which more likely, but in young dogs there can be a hernia or possible testicular torsion (twisting) that leads to swelling of the genitals.  In an older dog testicular cancer would be more common.

A possible cause for the coughing would be heartworm, but also Bordatella virus, heart disease, allergies, and other parasites and systemic disease can also cause coughing.

I would suggest bringing him to your veterinarian for an examination so that they can hopefully determine the cause of his discomfort.
