Question
My 4 1/2 month old Chesapeake has one pupil smaller than the other.  She has a small spot that looks like a bug bite or small bump about 1/2 inch below her eye.  I called the emergency vet as it is 10 on Sunday night.  They said if she did not have any other symptoms, then wait to see regular vet on Tuesday after holiday.  What other symptoms would I be looking for?  How long does this take to just go away or does it?  Is there a need to take her in right away?

Answer
It's hard to say whether or not this will just go away but if she isn't staggering, vomiting or lethargic, she most likely can wait until Tues. Some vets are open on Labor Day but you'd have to call around to find one.
The above symptoms would indicate that she had eaten something that was affecting her Central Nervous System. If she is fine in every other way I wouldn't worry about it tonight.
Check her tomorrow and see how it looks then.
Check her gums also and see what color they are. They should be pink and when you press on them they will blanch white but flush back in pink right away. If they are white then I would call the vet back and tell them that.
Otherwise wait until morning.
