cat is drooling

Question
My cat (a black and white domestic short-haired, don't know how else to describe him) Whiskers is about 6 years old and I just noticed him drooling. I've been watching him eat and he sometimes dribbles food down his chin and it also falls out of his mouth, as if he has trouble chewing (?). He's never done this before. I'm a little worried but I'm not sure if it's serious enough to take him to the vet. Could you tell me what the problem might be and if I should take him to the vet?

Answer
Hi Katie:  I bet he may have some bad teeth that need to be removed.  Also, an infection may be brewing in the gums.
Yes, he needs to see the vet for a check up.

Good Luck
